Kinetics of phase separation in thermally isolated critical binary fluids

Spinodal decomposition in a near-critical binary fluid is examined for experimental scenarios which the liquid quenched abruptly by changing pressure and subsequent phase separation occurs with no heat flow from outside, i.e., adiabatically. Equations of motion system volume effective temperature are derived. It shown that this case nonequilibrium process well approximated as one constant entropy, thermodynamically reversible. Quantitative comparison, adjustable parameters, made light scattering data Bailey Cannell [$\rm {Phys.\ Rev.\ Lett.\ }{\bf 70}$, 2110 (1993)]. found including these adiabatic effects accounts most discrepancies between experiments previous isothermal theory.
